You're Cleaning Your Glasses Wrong
What we usually think is right often ends up being wrong. When it comes to keeping our eyeglasses clean, we tend to opt for ways that are technically incorrect. In this blog, we shall look into some do’s and don’ts when it comes to cleaning eyeglasses.
First, let’s look at the DON’TS
- 1. Don’t use materials like paper tissues, towels, or any random piece of cloth to clean the glasses, especially the lenses. We tend to use the soft cloth that comes with the eyewear case only during the initial days. But later on, we resort to our old tactics. Materials like paper tissues are coarse & often leave scratch marks on the lenses, damaging the protective coatings on them.
- 2. Avoid products containing acetone for cleaning eyewear & its lenses. Acetone, usually found in products like nail polish remover, can damage the lenses as well as the frames if left on the surface for long.
- 3. Stop using saliva as a substitute for cleaning lenses. This is an unhygienic practice where you are actually covering the lenses with germs from your mouth. And the same gets transferred to your eyes when you wear the glasses.
Now, let’s take a look at the DO’s
The best & effective way of keeping the glasses clean is the lens cleaning wipes. Although you can even use the soft fiber cloth provided with the case; however, there’s no way safer & more secure than using these wipes. Not only the lenses, but you can also clean the frames as well. These wipes are pre-moistened, so you don’t have to worry about carry any cleansing liquid.
